Take Part

Cheshire Hike is an annual event run by Cheshire Scouts – for Scouts, Explorers, Guides and Rangers. Now in its 57th year, the 2025 event will see 850+ Scouts and Guides within three age categories walk between 30km to 60km in a weekend, camping at an overnight basecamp. Teams consist of two, three, four or five young people between the ages of 10½ and 17.

Fancy getting involved?

Across two days, three age categories and four possible team sizes, Cheshire Hike will see Scouts and Guides walk between start and finish locations that will be revealed just two weeks before the event.

To read more ahead of our 2025 event, whether you’re interested in taking part, you’d like to volunteer, or you’ve done it before and you want to be fully prepared, download our guide and find everything you need to know.

As a young person, you will need to register your interest with your leader, and they will book you onto the event. The cost per hiker is £20.

How should I be preparing?

We have written a useful guide for you to read, which will take you through the entire process of taking part in Cheshire Hike, from what the event involves, what kit you’ll need, what you should eat, the training you’ll need to do, and what you’ll achieve by taking part. It’s an excellent read – written by the organisers of the event and contributed to by leaders that have seen young people take part many times.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
