Take Part in Cheshire Hike

The event will be held on 27th-28th September, and is open to Scouts and Guides between the ages of 10½ and 17. You can download our full hike guide below.

Take Part

Cheshire Hike is an annual event run by Cheshire Scouts – for Scouts, Explorers, Guides and Rangers. Now in its 57th year, the 2025 event will see 850+ Scouts and Guides within three age categories walk between 30km to 60km in a weekend, camping at an overnight basecamp. Teams consist of two, three, four or five young people between the ages of 10½ and 17.

For those taking part:

  • Make sure you’ve received your Team Pack – if you haven’t, check with your leader or contact us.
  • Read your Team Pack in full, and download our Kit List.
  • Print your Team Pack if you can, or have it ready when you arrive at our Start locations – you’ll need the QR code to be able to start.

A few last minute pointers:

  • Our maps aren’t fully waterproof – you’ll need a waterproof map case, or two if you’re in a team of 4 or 5 hikers.
  • If you didn’t manage to attend our Onboarding Day, you’ll need to read our Safety Information.
  • At the start, you’ll be given a Safety Card. It’s important to read this and keep it with you at all times.
  • Download the What3Words app now. If you need us, you only need to tell us three words and we’ll find you.

Finally, if you haven’t read the Official Guide, please do so now – and encourage your parents to do so as well. There are plenty of hints and tips, whether it’s your first time taking part, or you’d like to know how to win a trophy at the finish.

The best of luck to everyone taking part in Cheshire Hike 2025. Tie those boot laces, put your backpack on, and get ready to make best friends and forever memories in what will be one of your best adventures yet.
